Marcelo and Real Madrid officials are reported to have held a ‘crisis’ meeting over the Brazilian’s future.
Los Blancos’ form has been excellent of late and the gap between themselves, league leaders Barcelona and Atletico Madrid – has been getting smaller.
Madrid did take the lead against Girona at the weekend through Casemiro, who headed a cross past Yaccine Bounou in the 25th minute and in truth – Madrid dominated from that point on.
The second half began with Girona on the front foot however as Cristhian Stuani and Portu began to cause problems.
And, it was the former who got the visitors on level terms as he scored from then penalty spot in the 65th minute.
Ten minutes later and Stunai would be involved again, providing a flick in the move which ended up putting Girona ahead. The lively Portu would head in at the back post to leave the Bernabeu in shock as Thibaut Courtois failed to keep him at bay.
Vinicius Jr did try to get Madrid back on level terms but the sending off of Ramos left them facing an even bigger up hill battle.
Courtois had a last minute header go just wide after he came up from a corner, and the result stayed in favour of the visitors, who won at the Bernabeu for the first time in their career.
Following the game, Brazilian full-back Marcelo was hit with criticism on social media and he has now responded via his own social accounts.
And, it is now reported by Cadena COPE that he held a meeting with club officials on Tuesday morning to discuss various aspects, including his role and future in the team.
