Inter Milan are reported to be closing in on a deal to bring Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic to the club this summer.
According to La Gazzetta, the Italian club have offered €35m to sign the Croatian international after he was told a contract extension was not a priority by Barca officials last week.
The report claims that talks between Rakitic’ representatives and Inter have taken place and that an agreement is close.
The Croatian international has been a key figure for the Catalan side since arriving in 2014 and is one of Ernesto Valverde’s most consistent performers.
The rumours of a potential exit for Rakitic come after Frenkie De Jong was signed by Barca and will arrive in summer, coupled with a promise by the club’s board that they will sell three midfielders.
The Croatian has won four Copa del Rey titles and the Champions League with Barcelona, aswell as three league titles.
If indeed, Rakitic moves to Inter, he will be followed by Diego Godin, who is reported to have agreed a contract to sign for the Serie A outfit on a free transfer from Atletico Madrid.
The potential of those two key signings for Inter is seen as a neccessity as they look to push Juventus for the Italian title.
