Catalan media have delved into the recent form of Luis Suarez, who put in a poor performance for Barcelona against Lyon on Tuesday evening.
Ernesto Valverde approached the tie in France having seen his side struggle to produce their usual on form heroics and he opted for Lionel Messi, Ousmane Dembele and Suarez up front to start to the game against the Ligue 1 side.
Suarez, who was rested for the large part against Real Valladolid at the weekend – had failed to score in 16 games in the Champions League away from home – scoring last against AS Roma in September 2015.
The Uruguayan striker failed to change that statistic but further add it to, totalling 1507 minutes now.
Sport have now opened up their Wednesday coverage by looking at his recent on field failings, which also saw him put in poor performances against Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey and Athletic Club in the league two weeks back.
The former Liverpool man now has just two goals in his last ten games and has gone five without finding the back of the net, largely depending on Messi to save Barca’s blushes in recent performances.
With some important clashes coming up, Valverde will be hoping his number nine can re-find the form that has made him one of world football’s deadliest strikers.
