Martin Braithwaite’s 89th minute equaliser was enough to give Leganes a 1-1 draw with Valencia on Sunday afternoon.
Los Che arrived at the Butarque as favourites after winning their last two games at the home side’s ground and Marcelino would have fully expected his side to go on and take advantage of the game after Geoffrey Kondogbia gave them a lead after just 22 minutes.
However, it was the home side who looked more dangerous as they tested Brazilian keeper Neto on countless occasions.
The former Napoli keeper had to be in good form for the visitors and he was, however, he could do little about a last minute leveller from Danish international Braithwaite, who has been a revelation after his arrival from English club Middlesbrough in January.
The result ensures that Leganes remain 12th but they will be looking over their shoulders with the relegation pack all improving in form of late.
Valencia sit 8th but results on Sunday and have drastically improved after a poor start to the season and will now be looking to push for a Europa League place.
Elsewhere on Sunday, Atletico Madrid will host Villarreal, Levante will face Real Madrid and Valladolid have a tricky test against Real Betis.
