Real Betis were beaten 2-1 by Getafe on Sunday afternoon in a game that saw boss Quique Setien booed and jeered by the club’s fans.
This game had everything to fight for as the visitors arrived looking to leapfrog Alaves in fourth place and sit in the Champions League places, whilst Betis are also looking up the table, wanting to qualify for the Europa League once more.
The home side did dominate in terms of possession for the large part, completing almost half more the amount of passes made by Jose Bordalas’ side – but they did very little in the first half to break the deadlock.
Betis’ lack of firepower up front allowed Getafe to create chances and they found the back of the net through Leandro Cabrera on the 20th minute.
And, that lead was doubled by Jaime Mata, who has been in superb form – just before half time.
From that moment on, boos and jeers rang round the Benito Villamarin stadium with various calls of ‘Leave Setien, Leave’ being heard and whilst was from only a section – it was clear to see Betis fans were unhappy with their side’s performance.
Veteran winger Joaquin was hauled on and he got the home side back in the game in the 75th minute, but they did very little after that moment to get a leveller.
