Barcelona will sit down and discuss a potential summer move for Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt, according to reports.
The Dutch international is Ajax’s youngest ever captain at the tender age of 19 and his performances this term for the Eredivise side have been nothing below excellent.
Interest from a whole host of European clubs has since developed with Barcelona leading the way in terms of constant reports.
That interest is now said to have taken a step further after his showing against Real Madrid on Tuesday evening, where he helped Ajax knock the European champions out of the Champions League.
De Ligt, who has been open about his future, saying that he would love to play for the Catalan club – is even more keen to do so, having seen close friend and Ajax team-mate Frenkie De Jong agree a move to Barca, which will be completed in the summer.
SPORT now report that talks over a move for the centre-back will take place towards the end of March with president Josep Maria Bartomeu extremely keen to bring him to the Camp Nou.
His potential arrival would likely force Thomas Vermaelen out of the club, whilst Jeison Murillo is unlikely to see his loan spell extended past the end of the season.
