Karim Benzema was full of smiles after scoring against Real Valladolid at the weekend, but form some – that seemed a bit premature given the events of last week.
Los Blancos secured a 4-1 win over Valladolid and whilst they were tested by Sergio Gonzalez’ side – the three points gained were a must to restore some faith (if only a little).
Last week, Madrid followed up a Copa del Rey defeat to Barcelona by losing to them in the league game and being eliminated by Ajax in the Champions League.
It was defined as the Spanish club’s ‘worst week in history’ by some and had many scratching their heads at their downfall.
Whilst a win was absolutely neccessary at the weekend, many watched on stunned as Benzema, Luka Modric and Marco Asensio all celebrated and smiled after scoring their goals.
Maybe the pressure is off……mayne they were told to express themselves and play without fear……
But after a period of such damaging and deserved losses – maybe the aforementioned trio should have held off looking so happy.
It may not surprise most that Madrid will probably go on a good run now in the league and some fans will enjoy that, but for most – it simply is not good enough…….
