Santi Solari has failed to win over large parts of the Real Madrid dressing room and his future will now be discussed.
Defeat to Barcelona in La Liga, exit to their bitter rivals in the Copa del Rey and elimination from the Champions League to Ajax have seen Madrid have arguably their worst week in history.
With nothing left to play for this season, Los Blancos must now look to address various issues, including their failure to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, who left for Juventus last summer – if he is replacable.
And, the future of Solari, who despite winning games for the most part since taking over before Christmas – he has lost the games that matter.
Marca have looked deeply into the goings on at the Santiago Bernabeu since the defeat to Ajax last week and they have now looked at Solari’s relationship or lack of – with his squad.
The Spanish daily, who are usually supportive of Madrid, claim that Solari and some of Madrid’s more senior players do not co-exist, picking up on Marcelo and Isco, who continue to be substitutes or largely unused.
Gareth Bale is another, however, his time at the Santiago Bernabeu looks to be coming to end due to form and a lack of adaptation to life in Spain.
Toni Kroos, Marco Asensio and Keylor Navas – all major players over the past few seasons – are also said to be at odds with the Argentine.
Time will tell now if Florentino Perez opts to keep Solari at the club for some, if not all, of the above Madrid players – their futures could lie elsewhere.
