Real Madrid are set to announce Zinedine Zidane as their new boss on Monday afternoon, according to various reports.
Defeat to Barcelona in La Liga, exit to their bitter rivals in the Copa del Rey and elimination from the Champions League to Ajax have seen Madrid have arguably their worst week in history.
With nothing left to play for this season, Los Blancos must now look to address various issues, including their failure to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, who left for Juventus last summer – if he is replacable.
And, the future of boss Santi Solari, who despite winning games for the most part since taking over before Christmas – he has lost the games that matter.
Marca have looked deeply into the goings on at the Santiago Bernabeu since the defeat to Ajax last week and reports claim that the club are set to announce Zidane as his replacement.
A meeting on Monday morning is said to have decided to relieve Solari of his duties, whilst the board and Florentino Perez are set to meet at 5pm Spanish time to release news of their decision.
Zidane’s potential return would see him take over immediately and try to restore some pride into the fans at the Bernabeu.
