Santiago Solari says goodbye to most of Real Madrid squad

Santiago Solari has said his goodbyes at Real Madrid after being replaced by Zinedine Zidane on Monday afternoon.

Defeat to Barcelona in La Liga, exit to their bitter rivals in the Copa del Rey and elimination from the Champions League to Ajax have seen Madrid have arguably their worst week in history.

With nothing left to play for this season, Los Blancos were forced to address various issues on Monday and they chose to relieve Solari of his duties

The relationship between Solari and a number of Madrid players was heavily reported in Spanish papers following the weekend, which include players such as Isco, Marcelo, Toni Kroos and Marco Asensio.

Following the decision to remove Solari from his role, the Argentine said goodbye to a number of the players, who he had a good relationship with on Monday afternoon.

Zidane now returns to the club less than a season after leaving and his arrival has been met with praise from the club’s fans and president Florentino Perez.

The Frenchman will now look to build on the current squad, whilst restoring some pride back into Madrid after a season full of poor performances and failure to push Barcelona in the title race, mount a Copa del Rey challenge and go past Ajax.
