Portu scored a superb brace as Girona beat Leganes 2-0 on Saturday evening at Butarque.
This game on Saturday evening was a bit of who’s who of La Liga talent and pitted two of the most unpredictable sides in the league together.
Leganes are often good at home, whilst Girona have been largely inconsistent on the road but the game did exactly the opposite as Portu scored two goals inside the opening 25 minutes to seal the points.
The Spaniard has largely been overshadowed by Uruguayan striker Cristhian Stuani this season in terms of goals but he stole the show for the away side, netting his first thanks to an assist from Borja Garcia.
Moments later and he would be celebrating once more as Victor Hernandez played him on the 22nd minute mark.
Leganes did dominate in terms of possession, passes and chances but they did very little to threaten the Girona goal and the score stayed the same until the end of the match, giving the visitors an impressive win on the road.
Leganes continue in 14th place, whilst Girona move up to 12th and could mount a European challenge if they can find consistency.
Elsewhere, Real Madrid beat Celta Vigo and Atletico Madrid lost to Athletic Bilbao on Saturday.
