Ajax have agreed a ‘temporary block’ on a potential return for Andre Onana to Barcelona this summer.
The former Barca youngster is currently performing well for Dutch side Ajax, but after recent negotiations between the two clubs – it is now being reported that talks have taken place over the keeper returning to the Catalan capital.
Catalunya Radio reported last month that the Cameroonian keeper is available for €20m and Barca see him as a replacement for Jasper Cillessen, who remains keen to leave the club and find regular first team football.asow
Whilst talks did begin, it has emerged that Ajax asked Barca to hold off any move for their former La Masia graduate until the Dutch side found an alternative long term replacement.
Further reports have claimed that Cillessen could be used in a swap deal for Onana, but for now – any talk of a move if off.
Onana joined Ajax from Barcelona in 2015 after spending his time with La Masia to develop, following on from a start with the Samuel Eto’o Foundation in his native country.
Barca sealed a deal for centre midfielder Frenkie De Jong earlier this year, ensuring the Dutch midfielder will arrive at the Camp Nou this coming summer.
Further reports have claimed that central defender Matthijs De Ligt could follow De Jong, and if Onana also comes in – then three players will have made a summer switch from Ajax to Barcelona.
