Real Sociedad have allowed keeper Geronimo Rulli to leave on a season long loan to French side Montpellier, it has been confirmed.
The Argentine stopper made 29 appearances for La Real last term but question marks over his form saw Miguel Angel Moya also play in a number of games and share a rotating role between the sticks at the Anoeta.
Interest from a number of European sides saw the likes of both Porto and Benfica show interest in the 27-year-old keeper, but Ligue 1’s Montpellier were quick off the mark to agree a loan deal.
Having made 180 appearances for the Spanish side, Rulli calls time on his five-year spell at the Basque club and whilst Moya is expected to take up the number one role at the club – La Real could be forced to bring in a new stopper before the Spanish transfer window closes.
Rulli joins the likes of Juanmi (Real Betis), Eneko Capilla (Asteras Tripoli) and Hector Moreno (Al Gharafa) – on leaving the club this summer, whilst summer arrivals have been aplenty.
Lively Spanish attacker Portu is arguably the biggest arrival, joining from relegated Girona plus young duo Alexander Isak (Dortmund) and Modibo Sagnan (Lens) have also been signed.
