A number of Barcelona first team members are said to be unhappy with the transfer saga surrounding Paris Saint Germain’s Neymar, according to various reports.
Spanish daily Marca report that the management at the Camp Nou and the club’s playing staff are at odds over the way in which transfer talks over Neymar returning to the Catalan club were handled this summer.
The Brazilian international left Barca in 2017 for Ligue 1 side PSG, but talks over a return started at the turn of the year.
PSG, however, stood firm and priced Barcelona officials out of a move, prompting the La Liga champions to publicaly offer a number players in exchange for the forward.
Players such as Nelson Semedo, Ivan Rakitic and Ousmane Dembele were offered but none chose to be included in the deal and all three are said to be angered by their inclusion.
The dressing room is now unhappy, with reports claiming that president Josep Maria Bartomeu never really made a serious move for Neymar and the inclusion of the aforementioned trio has now caused a problem.
Senior players such as Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets and Lionel Messi are now said to be trying to bring the dressing room back together, but performances on the pitch have to improve as well.
An opening day defeat to Athletic Bilbao followed by a 2-2 draw with Osasuna have overshadowed a win over Real Betis, leaving Ernesto Valverde with work to do over the international break.
