Sunday’s La Liga action saw five red cards across the five games with Sevilla winning their encounter with Alaves and Real Betis being held by Getafe to round of the weekend action.
The opening game of Sunday saw Eibar host Espanyol and the home side thought they had done just about enough when Ivan Ramis scored just before the hour mark, but the visitors were not to be outdone.
Goals from Facundo Ferrerya and Esteban Granero changed the tie within three minutes and saw the visitors steal all three points. Naldo was sent off late on for the away side but it mattered not as they held on.
Joan Jordan scored the only goal of the game for Sevilla as they dominated Alaves for the large part at the Mendizorroza.
The win sees the Andalusian side sit top of the table on 10 points from their opening four games, whilst the home side sit eleventh.
Celta Vigo’s game with newly promoted Granada was one of those that you had to witness to believe as the home side were reduced to nine men after just 29 minutes.
Jorge Comeiro and Fran Beltran were shown their marching orders for poor challenges and that allowed Granada to secure all three points with goals coming from German Sanchez Barahona and Yangel Herrera.
Real Valladolid and Osasuna played out a 1-1 draw with goals coming from Pablo Hervias and Robert Ibanez, respectively.
And, finally – more red cards over at the Benito Villamarin saw Real Betis drop down to nine men and be held at home by Getafe.
Jaime Mata opened the scoring from the penalty spot after just fifteen minutes, before William Carvalho was shown a red card on the 25th minute mark.
Joaquin would then grab an equaliser from the spot with fifteen minutes remaining on the clock, before Loren Moran was sent off in stoppage time to end a day of early baths in La Liga.
