Deportivo have joined a host of clubs interested in making a move for Manchester City’s unwanted Ivorian striker, Wilfried Bony according to reports on Futbolistos.
City boss, Pep Guardiola has given Bony the go ahead to seek a move and it is thought the club are hoping to bring in £13 million for the striker who spent last season on loan at Stoke City.
City signed Bony from Swansea in January 2015 after the striker had netted 35 times in 70 appearances for the Welsh side but he was unable to bring that form to the Etihad and managed just 10 goals in 46 appearances for the Manchester giants.
Deportivo have been looking for a striker this summer and had originally hoped to bring in former star, Lucas Perez from Arsenal but it appears they will miss out on the man who left the club just twelve months ago with Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United looking favourites to sign him.
Instead it looks like they will now turn their attentions to Bony but once again they face Premier League competition with the strikers former club, Swansea interested in bringing him back to South Wales.
Should Deportivo sign Bony he would be a great addition to Pepe Mel’s squad as they prepare to start their La Liga campaign with a home game against Spanish and European champions Real Madrid in just under two weeks time.
Mel knows if Deportivo are to stay in the top flight and perhaps even push into mid table that they need to score goals and he will be hoping that Bony can be the man who will bring them to the team.
