Andres Iniesta will miss the Spanish Supercup second leg with Real Madrid on Wednesday evening.
The Spanish international will miss the second leg of Barca’s Supercup with Madrid due to a thigh injury sustained during the 3-1 first leg defeat at Camp Nou on Sunday evening.
Barca’s captain did not train on Tuesday and therefore was left out of the 19-man squad that will travel to Madrid, hoping to overturn the result.
Iniesta, who has been linked with a summer exit from the Catalan club – played just over an hour on Sunday evening, but was hauled off and replaced by Denis Suarez after sustaining a problem in his right thigh.
His injury sees him join Rafinha and Thomas Vermaelen on the sidelines for Ernesto Valverde’s side.
Gerard Pique’s own goal started off the scoring on Sunday with Lionel Messi’s penalty cancelling that out, however, stunning strikes from Cristiano Ronaldo and Marco Asensio give Madrid one hand on Spanish football’s first domestic honour.
Ronaldo will miss the second leg due to a red card given by referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea after two bookings from removing his shirt, simulation and pushing the match official.
He will miss the next five games, ruling him out of the weekend opener with Deportivo La Coruna.
