Villarreal have completed the signing of Carlos Bacca from AC Milan on a one-year loan deal.
The deal was confirmed in a video on Villarreal’s official social media platforms, showing the Colombian striker announced as their new number nine, replacing Roberto Soldado, who left earlier this summer.
A whole host of European clubs had shown interest in the striker with English sides Arsenal and Everton keen to discuss a potential asking price with Serie A side Milan.
Former club Sevilla had also been linked and expected to seal a move, with the player preferring to re-join the Andalusian side.
However, Villarreal have been quick to complete a deal and will make the move permanent next summer should all parties agree.
The much travelled striker is no stranger to Spanish football after spending time with the latter and scored an impressive 49 goals in 108 games, helping Sevilla gain Europa League success in 2013/2014 and 2014/2015.
A statement on the Yellow Submarine’s official website confirms that Bacca will be presented on Thursday evening at El Madrigal.
Bacca joined Milan from Sevilla in 2015 and scored 34 goals in 78 appearances for the Rossoneri but after the Italian club completed several new signings this summer – he fell out of favour and was made available for transfer by Vincenzo Montello.
