Stoke City have sold Joselu to Newcastle United and replaced him with Jese Rodriguez on loan from Paris Saint Germain.
Sky Sports News were first to report that former Deportivo man Joselu underwent a medical on Tyneside and a move has now been completed, seeing him join Rafael Benitez’s side in a deal worth £5m.
Joselu spent last season on loan at Depor from Stoke, where he scored five goals in 20 appearances for the club.
Joselu joins new arrivals Florian Lejeune, Jacob Murphy, Javier Manquillo and Christian Atsu, whilst Mikel Merino has joined on loan from Borussia Dortmund.
Meanwhile, talks between Stoke officials and Jese Rodriguez have come to an end with the Spaniard being presented at the club on Wednesday morning.
Rodriguez was once hyped as one of European football’s biggest talents, but a move from Madrid to PSG, plus serious knee problems has seen him struggle to re-claim that name tag.
Having spent last term on loan with Gran Canarian side Las Palmas, where he bagged three goals – the youngster will now move to the Premier League and look to build on a fresh start.
Hughes has had to act quickly in the summer transfer market after losing Marko Arnautovic to West Ham United, whilst former England international Peter Crouch is approaching his final playing days at the club.
