RCD Espanyol are set to make another summer signing in the form of experienced Catalan left-back Dídac Vilà in the coming days with an announcement expected imminently.
Vila came through the ranks at the club, having joined them at the age of 10. He caught the eye with his impressive form and earned a move to AC Milan, though he only made one appearance for the Serie A club.
He did return to Espanyol for one season in loan immediately after joining the San Siro outfit, but left the club at that end of that loan in 2012 after 13 years in blue and white.
The now 28-year-old did return to Spain for loan spells at Real Betis and Eibar but then opted to move to Greece, where he signed for AEK Athens in 2015.
Now, he has seen his contract with the Greek club terminated in order to allow him to return to the RCD Stadium and rejoin his former club.
The deal has been close to completion for some time, but due to La Liga wage restrictions in relation to turnover, Los Pericos had to free up some of the wage budget in order to allow for the arrival of the defender, who will compete with the likes of Aaron for a role in the starting line-up.
