Espanyol aim for at least three more additions before Thursday’s transfer deadline

Catalan newspaper Sport report that Espanyol are looking to make at least three signings before the transfer window comes to a close on Thursday night.

The report indicates that Quique Sanchez Flores is looking for a left-back, a central defender and a central midfielder. After a defeat at home to Leganes and an opening day draw with Sevilla, los Pericos are still looking for their first win of the season and the former Atletico Madrid boss is hoping to strengthen his squad.

The left-back targeted is believed to be former defender Didac Villa, and his arrival will not be conditioned by the sale of Aaron Martin to Manchester City after they had a bid rejected for the youngster earlier this week.

At centre-back, the club could look to bring back a loanee from last season in Diego Reyes. The Mexican was a key player last season but has since returned to Porto.

In midfield, it’s believed that Real Madrid ace Marcos Llorente is the top target. He impressed on loan at Alaves last season and spent pre-season with Zinedine Zidane’s squad, but could now depart in search of regular first team football in the Spanish top flight.

With only two days left of the transfer window, Espanyol will need to act quickly in order to strengthen their squad and add depth.
