Olympique Lyonnais have completed the signing of Pape Cheikh Diop from Celta Vigo for a figure of €15m.
Having held interest from a number of top European clubs this summer, Diop was mainly linked with a move to Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur but a move to England failed to materialise after a failure to negotiate a fee.
Ligue 1 side Lyon then made a serious play for the 20-year-old, who made 16 appearances for the Galician side last season.
The French side had wanted to find a long term replacement for midfielder Maxi Gonalons and they have now secured their preferred option in Diop.
The Spanish U19 international began his career with with Celta in 2013, two years after arriving in Spain and made his official first team debut against Espanyol in December 2015, replacing Nolito.
The youngster has spent time with both the Spanish U18 and U19 sides, scoring no international goals in the process.
Celta Vigo have endured a tough start to the new La Liga season, having lost their opening two games but Juan Carlos Unzue has been busy bringing in fresh faces, seeing Maxi Gomez, Stanislav Lobotka and Jozabed arrive, whilst a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Emre Mor is almost complete.
