Interested clubs have been told Luciano Vietto will not be sold by Atletico Madrid until Diego Costa has been signed from Chelsea.
Diego Simeone will not sell Argentine forward Vietto until a deal for Costa has been agreed with Premier League side Chelsea, according to various reports in Spanish press.
Costa’s prolonged return to the Spanish capital has dragged on through the summer and become quite the soap opera with the striker failing to return to pre-season training, receive a fine and go AWOL.
However, a deal does not look to be coming to completion with the London Evening Standard having reported that a £41m deal is all but agreed.
Waiting for that move to materialise is young striker Vietto, who has failed to make a name for himself at the club and has received offers from numerous European clubs.
Cast your mind back two years ago and Atletico made a massive £17m move for Vietto, who joined the club just days after agreeing personal terms.
However, his time at the Madrid based club has not gone well, making just 12 league starts and having a spell on loan with Sevilla last season.
A whole host of European clubs have shown interest with Southampton now leading the race, whilst Monaco, Villarreal and Zenit St Petersburg are keen.
Vietto scored six times at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan last season but he has failed to get past the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Kevin Gamieiro and Fernando Torres at his parent club.
Marseille, Valencia and Sampdoria have also enquired about his availability, making the Argentine striker’s options a plenty.
