Sevilla have missed out on signing Montenegrin striker, Stevan Jovetic with the striker signing for Monaco instead.
Jovetic spent the second half of last season on loan with Sevilla and it looked like the club were trying to bring him back but the French champions have gatecrashed the deal at the 11th hour. Jovetic will now likely be a direct replacement for Kylian Mbappe with the young Frenchman set to move to Paris St Germain on loan initially before joining permanently next summer.
Sevilla have been looking for another attacker this summer and Jovetic isn’t the first former player they have missed out on with Carlos Bacca joining Villarreal when strongly linked with a move to Andalusia. Jovetic done quite well in his short spell with the club last season scoring seven times and the news of his transfer will be a blow to the club.
The transfer window will close this week so Eduardo Berizzo and Sevilla are up against it to get another signing across the line but they will undoubtedly continue looking as the team prepare for another season of La Liga and Champions League football.
It remains to be seen who will arrive but all indications are the club are still in the market for new players with Bologna’s left back, Adam Masina also being linked with a move to the club before Thursday’s deadline.
