Angel Di Maria has begged Paris Saint Germain to allow him a deadline day move to Barcelona, according to El Larguero.
Reports last month claimed that Barcelona saw the former Real Madrid man as a potential alternative in case their move for Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho fails, despite reports of a completed deal for the Brazilian coming through on Thursday.
Having spent big this summer on Neymar from Barcelona, officials at the French club know they must sell to avoid a punishment over UEFA’s Financial Fair Play ruling and it is now looking likely that a move for the Argentine winger will happen.
Reports by multiple Spanish media sources last week claimed – that all had been accepted with Di Maria’s final demand of a regular starting place at the Camp Nou – being agreed by Barca officials.
However, nothing has come of those reports with the Catalan club being linked with other transfer targets.
Whilst, no news has filtered out – the Argentine has told PSG to accept any bid from Barca, speaking of his desire to join Lionel Messi at the club.
Since leaving La Liga side Real Madrid, Di Maria has failed to reproduce that high level of form either at Manchester United in the Premier League or for PSG in Ligue 1.
