Barcelona will announce the signing of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool at 7pm GMT on Thursday evening, according to reports.
Interest in Coutinho has been strong from the Catalan side ever since Neymar departed for Paris Saint Germain earlier this summer.
Whie Coutinho is not seen as a direct replacement for his compatriot, Barça officials are under pressure to bring in some fresh faces and compete with Real Madrid both domestically and on the European stage.
Andres Iniesta, Barça’s current captain, is edging closer to retirement and the La Liga giants believe Coutinho is the perfect replacement.
Liverpool have been strong in their desire to keep the former Inter Milan man, despite a transfer request being handed in by the midfielder two weeks ago but it is now being reported heavily in the English press that a deal will be announced at 7pm on Thursday evening.
Reports also claim that Anfield bosses gave Barça an agreement earlier this week but asked them to be quiet until they signed a replacement, with Alex Oxlade Chamberlain being signed from Arsenal on Thursday morning.
The deal being reported is worth a massive £138m and will see Coutinho be presented after the international break.
Multiple conflicting reports claim that this is just paper talk and that no deal has been agreed, but we will have to wait until tonight to see.
