We reported to you earlier that Lucas Perez was close to a loan move back to former club Deportivo La Coruna after rejecting Real Betis and Levante, but Sky Sports News now says that Everton are in talks with Arsenal over the loan.
However the Spaniard has been determined to secure a move back to Galicia for a while now and wants to stick to this plan as the deadline approaches.
With the deadline in Spain coming 25 hours after the deadline in England, Depor know that they have that extra time to get the job done meaning that if his future isn’t sorted by the 11pm deadline tonight then he’ll surely be heading back home to the Riazor.
Last season, Perez said that he was fed up at being a bit part player and described Alexandre Lacazette being given his number 9 jersey upon joining Arsenal in the summer as,”the last straw.”
Newcastle were also linked with the forward however the player’s agent Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle has said that Deportivo are in pole position.
He said, “I think the £10.9m (€12m) that Deportivo La Coruna have offered Arsenal is a great deal. Deportivo received £12.7m (€14m) when they sold him to them last summer.
“They are giving everything to make this transfer possible. Lucas wants to play but he has a contract with Arsenal. I am hopeful an agreement can be reached. Lucas wants to play in Spain.”
The 28 year old made only 11 Premier League appearances last season with just 2 of those coming from the start, scoring only once against Bournemouth.
His other six goals came in the FA Cup, EFL Cup and Champions League including a hat trick in the 4-1 win vs Basel.
