Despite Pepe Reina looking set to stay in Naples, Napoli are still chasing another goalkeeper with Real Sociedad’s Geronimo Rulli as their main target.
Reina, whose contract expires next summer, has been linked with a move to PSG. Although it now appears that the Spaniard will stay in Italy, Sarri team are still linked with a move for La Real’s number one. Sociedad president, Jokin Apperribay, confirmed negotiations were underway “but it’s very complicated, especially given the timing. We’ll see how the negotiations go, it’s a very complicated operation.”
Along with the timeframe, a transfer for Rulli would have to go through the Argentine’s former club, Manchester City, who likely hav first refusal on the young goalkeeper.
Rulli has been with the Txuriurdin in two shorts spells. He spent two years on loan with Sociedad in 2014 before moving to Manchester City who then loaned Rulli to Sociedad once more and sold him to the Basques in January this year.
Rulli departure would be a huge lost for Eusebio and his side.
Tono, the man likely to take over from Rulli, has been prominent in the lower tiers of Spanish football and is yet to make a first tier start. Sociedad’s fan will hope that the deal falters and they keep their star goalkeeper.
