RCD Espanyol have sprung into action just before the transfer deadline by announcing the loan signing of midfielder Sergi Darder from Olympique Lyonnais.
The Catalan club will pay a €300,000 loan fee, with an obligation to buy the Mallorca born central midfielder for €8 million at the end of the season long loan.
The move comes as a surprise that the French club allowed Darder to leave. He made 35 appearances for the Ligue 1 side last season and had figured in all three of their league fixtures in the current campaign before returning to Spain.
The 23-year-old had spent two years in France after joining from Malaga, where he rose to fame with two seasons of first team football in the south of Spain.
Capped four times by Spain at under 21 level, he will now be hoping to show his best form once again in La Liga and may even be in with a shout of a place in the senior Spain squad if he can produce his best form.
It also resolves a selection headache for Quique Sanchez Flores, who has been hoping to add depth in the middle of the park. In Darder, there are few better players he could have added to his squad.
