Andres Iniesta has held a meeting with Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu over a renewed contract, according to reports.
The Barcelona midfielder is currently in the final year of his current contract at the Camp Nou and multiple reports have linked him with a similar exit to that of Dani Alves, who left the club on a free transfer for the Serie A champions.
Tuttosport claimed last week that Juventus are hopeful of signing the former World Cup final goalscorer, who will turn 34 next May.
Iniesta captains Barcelona this season, but doubts over his full fitness and playing time have been heavily discussed in Spanish press.
Fans of the Catalan club will undoubtedly not favour him leaving, much like Alves, who they still have anger towards Barca’s hierarchy.
Alves went on to help Juventus to two Serie A titles and to a Champions League final place, moving on to Paris Saint Germain this summer.
Spanish international Iniesta has spent 21 yeas with Barcelona, having moved to the famed La Masia academy from Albacete, making 632 appearances to date.
One potential replacement for Iniesta should he leave Barca is Philippe Coutinho, who was longed linked with a move this summer and it is understood a bigger play will be made by the club next summer for the Liverpool midfielder.
