Getafe beat Leganes 2-1 on Friday evening in their first ever Madrid derby.
The Madrid sides, who are based in the South of the Spanish capital had never met in La Liga before, until Friday’s game at Butarque and it lived up to it’s billing with two excelletn strikes from the visitors.
Heading into the tie, the home side were in buoyant mood, having started the season well with two 1-0 wins coming over Espanyol and Alaves, whilst Getafe hd begun with one point, holding Athletic Bilbao to a 0-0 draw on the opening day, before losing 1-0 to Sevilla.
After a lively start from both sides, it was the visitors who struck first thanks to a goal of sheer brilliance Uruguayan Mauro Arambarri.
His goal would see the away side head into the changing room in front but a good response from the home side saw them level just after the hour mark when Miguel Angel Guerrero struck.
The game then became stretched as both Eric Moran for the hosts and Cala for Getafe received yellow cards.
And, just as the game looked to be heading for a draw – up stepped Alvaro Jimenez to score a superb goal and grab all the bragging rights.
