Luis Suarez has openly discussed the future of Barcelona team-mate Lionel Messi, saying he will stay at the club.
Messi was at his magical best for Barca on Saturday evening as he scored a superb hat-trick to hand Ernesto Valverde an unbeaten start to his reign at the club.
After dominating early on, Messi collected a pass from Ivan Rakitic before curling in the opening goal on the 26th minute.
The home side then doubled their lead nine minutes later when Messi slid in from close range to tap home Jordi Alba’s pull back.
His hat-trick was then completed after both Alba and Luis Suarez combined to hand Messi a 38th Barcelona treble and set the wheels in motion for a third consecutive league victory.
And, Suarez has praised his team-mate, also commented on his future in the process.
“Messi? It’s a privilege to play with the best player in the world. He continues to show that there’ll be a lot of Messi for a while yet,” he told reporters.
Barca, who dominated the lions share of possession, would make it 4-0 thanks to a header from Gerard Pique, before the introduction of Ousmane Dembele for his debut – gave Suarez his first goal of the season.
Barca’s victory sees them make it three wins out of three, conceding no goals in the process and sitting a comfortable four points ahead of bitter rivals and champions Real Madrid.
“These are three important points, which allow us to stay ahead of our title rivals, but the season’s just begun.
“The season is long, but it’s been going well for us. Valverde? He asked me how I was, but the more I play, the more I’ll get back to my usual self after a knee injury.”
The Catalan side now face Juventus on Tuesday evening in the Champions League.
