Celta Vigo beat Alaves 1-0 at Balaidos on Sunday evening thanks to another goal from Maxi Gomez.
Gomez scored his third goal in as many games for Celta Vigo as they beat Alaves, which secured the home side’s first win of the season.
Gomez profited just after the half hour mark following a superb cross from Pione Sisto.
A penalty appeal from Iago Aspas followed shortly after, whilst Jozebed came close to doubling his side’s lead late on.
Elsewhere, former Spanish international Muniain broke the deadlock with 25 minutes on the clock as he fired into the top corner following a superb cross from Inaki Williams.
The visitors did respond well but it was the form of home keeper Iago Herrerin that halted efforts from Pedro Alcala, Aday Benitez and Alex Granell.
A spirited second half performance from the visitors, who had four points form two games so far – was halted however when Aduriz extended Athletic’s lead, profiting once more from good wing play from Williams.
Late efforts from Benitez and Cristhian Stuani almost saw the away side celebrate something, but it was the home side who secured all three points.
In the early kick off, Real Sociedad made it three wins out of three as they beat Deportivo 4-2 at the Riazor.
