Sevilla winger, Nolito, has been ruled out of the clubs trip to England to take on Liverpool in their opening game of the Champions League group stages.
Nolito gave a man of the match performance on Saturday evening in Sevilla’s 3-0 win over Eibar. He scored one goal and set up another but unfortunately for Eduardo Berizzo he picked up a thigh injury at the end of the game and will now miss the trip to Anfield and next weekends La Liga game against Getafe before undergoing further medical tests to see how serious the injury is.
The Spanish international arrived at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in the summer after a season in the Premier League with Manchester City. Things didn’t quite go to plan for him in Manchester but he has a proven record in Spain with his three years in Galicia with Celta de Vigo the highlight. Nolito managed to score 39 goals in 100 league appearances for the club and Sevilla will be hoping he brings that form to Andalusia.
In the meantime Sevilla will have to do without him for the next two games at least and Berizzo will have to decide who takes his place in the starting eleven. At the moment it looks like Pablo Sarabia will get the nod and while he is a good player it remains to be seen whether he can be an adequate replacement for Nolito.
