Levante 1-1 Valencia: Share of the spoils in Valencian derbySeptember 16, 2017
Levante and Valencia played out the Valencia derby with a 1-1 draw on Saturday morning.
Heading into Saturday’s derby – many had tipped Marcelino’s visiting side to take all three points after a suprisingly good start to their season, but their rivals have also started well with good results which include a draw against Real Madrid.
The visitors, who have also drawn with the Champions – took the lead just after the hour mark through Brazilian born striker Rodrigo, who has started the season in good form.
His well placed header after a cross from Manchester United loan winger Andreas Pereira gave the visiting supporters something early to cheer about.
But their celebrations were cut short just ten minutes later as Enis Bardhi levelled the game.
The Macedonian midfielder controlled well on the edge of the area before sending a powerful effort past Neto.
The result leaves both sides sitting 5th and 6th in the table, respectively, and more importantly – unbeaten with one win each and three draws to their name.
Elsewhere, in another early kick off – Getafe took the lead against Barcelona, but were beaten in the end by Ernesto Valverde’s men thanks to goals from midfield duo Denis Suarez and Paulinho.
The result leaves Barca on top of the table, with champions Real Madrid set to play Real Sociedad on Sunday evening at the Anoeta.
