Athletic Bilbao may have broken a record set in 1969 for the longest time without conceding a goal in the start to a La Liga season, but they were just minutes short of holding out for long enough to deny Las Palmas a home win.
Instead, it was former Chelsea man Loic Remy who scored his second goal in the yellow of the Canary Island side to earn the three points with a superb finish in the 88th minute.
Las Palmas had looked the more likely to score, having hit the post only minutes earlier, but in an open game both teams had the opportunity to get their noses ahead.
Sabin Merino went close for Athletic, being only inches away from getting a decisive touch to send the ball into an empty net, and he was also subject to a challenge which drew faint penalty claims.
Athletic have struggled to score prolifically this season, their 2-0 win over Girona last weekend being the first time they found the back of the net twice all season, and Las Palmas capitalised as they found a way through and recorded their first home win of the campaign to take them up to a mid-table position after a slow start to the season.
