Real Sociedad were finally beaten in La Liga as Real Madrid ended a run of two games without a win.
Heading into the Sunday evening kick-off, for once Zinedine Zidane’s side were not favourites, mainly down to the impressive start that La Real had maintained this season, winning all three of their first three games.
But, it was to be the visitors who would walk away from the Anoeta with all three points thanks to goals from Borja Mayoral, Gareth Bale and an own-goal.
Madrid didn’t have to wait too long before they broke the deadlock as Sergio Ramos did well inside the box following a corner, before Mayoral thumped home the opener.
The youngster was a surprise starter for the La Liga champions but his overall impact made quite the impression.
Sociedad did get themselves back into the game as Rodrigues volleyed past Keylor Navas, but Mayoral’s impact would come into play once more as the youngster powerful effort deflected in off the Sociedad goalscorer to give the visitors the lead.
Madrid’s third goal did eventually arrive shortly after the half-hour mark, as Bale raced through on goal and chipped the ball over Geronimo Rulli.
The result also sees Madrid set a new club record of 11 away league wins in succession, whilst they climb up the table now on eight points from four games.
