Valencia smashed rock bottom Malaga 5-0 thanks to a superb hat-trick from Simone Zaza.
Zaza bagged a seven-minute treble in the second half to ensure Los Che’s impressive start to the new La Liga season continued.
Marcelino’s side remain unbeaten in the league, having already drawn with Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid, and Tuesday’s night’s victory saw them climb to third in the table.
However, for the visitors – a fifth straight defeat sees them sit rock bottom and casts doubts over Míchel’s future as coach of the team.
The game started well for the hosts, who dominated the early possession and the breakthrough came when Santi Mina placed his header into the net, following Carles Soler’s cross.
Zaza could have added to that just before the break but missed his chance. He would, however, soon be celebrating as Soler provided him with a cross to slot home the second of the game for the hosts.
The former Juventus striker would then add to that shortly after with a neat header, before completing his hat-trick in seven minutes with a perfectly-placed effort on the edge of the box.
Brazilian-born forward Rodrigo completed the rout as the visitors faced a troubled and uncomfortable journey back to Malaga.
