Leganes and Girona clash at the Butarque

Leganes and Girona will meet in La Liga for the first time in their respective histories in Madrid on Wednesday night.

The two last met in Catalonia in the Segunda division in March 2016 when the two played out a 1-1 draw but things are a lot different from then with both having celebrated promotion in the last few seasons.

The hosts made a good start to the season winning their opening two games but have since lost back to back games against Eibar and Sevilla and will hoping to get back to winning against against the La Liga newcomers.

The Catalan minnows haven’t disgraced themselves in the early stages of the season however beating Malaga and drawing with Atletico Madrid as well as only losing narrowly to Athletic Bilbao and Sevilla.

Leganes will be without Nabil El Zhar and Ezequiel Munoz who both picked up injuries within the last week.

There was a surprise in the Girona squad named by Pablo Machin with Aleix Garcia missing out despite an impressive performance against Sevilla. Pedro Alcala however will make this one after missing out at the weekend. The rest of the squad remains the same.

Predicted Line-Ups:

Leganes (4-2-3-1): Cuellar; Zaldua, Mantovani, Siovas, Rico; Eraso, Perez; Omar, Gabriel, Szymanowski; Beauvue

Girona (5-3-2): Iraizoz; Maffeo, Bernardo, Alcala, Muniesa, Mojica; Granell, Pere Pons, Borja Garcia; Portu, Kayode
