A superb volley by defender Chema helped Levante beat Real Sociedad 3-0 on Thursday evening at Ciutat de Valencia.
Heading into the game, Sociedad had three wins out of four games, ending their unbeaten run at the weekend in a 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid.
Whilst, the Basque side were very much favourites to take home all three points – they met a Levante side who have done well so far this season, holding rivals Valencia last week.
And, it was the hosts who took the lead through Chema’s impressive scissor kick which left visiting keeper Geronimo Rulli helpless.
Morales was on hand to put the home side 2-0 ahead with 15 minutes remaining on the lock, converting a spot kick, before Enis Bardhi sealed the victory with one minute of normal time remaining.
Sociedad’s performance was a shadow of their early season impressions and returned home having had Diego Llorente sent off for a second yellow card.
A second defeat in as many games now for the club, having conceded six goals in the process.
Levante, in their return to the top-flight after a year in the second division, won again after three consecutive draws, leaving them unbeaten in five games.
In Thursday’s other games, Villarreal and Espanyol played out a 0-0 draw, whilst Celta Vigo and Getafe also drew.
