Celta Vigo boss Juan Carlos Unzue was left ruing his side’s failure to stop Girona scoring three goals in Friday’s 3-3 draw at Balaidos.
Heading into the game at Balaidos, visiting side Girona were battered and bruised following their defeat to Barcelona last weekend, whilst Celta were in seemingly buoyant mood, smashing Eibar in their previous outing.
Home side boss Unzue spoke of the importance regarding a victory on Friday evening before the game, noting that his side had failed to win two successive games this season.
And, he would have been left feeling frustrated after his side were given a real test against Girona.
The home side did take the lead through in-form Pione Sisto, who scored the second game in a row, but they were instantly pegged back as Portu found the back of the net.
And, it would be 2-1 moments later for the Catalan side as Cristhian Stuani scored, before Maxi Gomez would get on the score-sheet to complete a remarkable opening 16 minutes.
The game would the largely be end-to-end and the home fans thought they had won the game when Daniel Wass made it 3-2, however, a late equaliser from Juanpe was enough to share the points.
Speaking after the final whistle, the former Barcelona assistant said: “It is a lot of goals against, we need to find that balance and concede less.
“Our form is poor and the results are not good. We have now experienced disappointment at home to Real Sociedad and Getafe also.”
The Galician side will now rest over the international break, before meeting Las Palmas on October 16.
