Getafe midfielder Gaku Shibasaki has undergone surgery for a fractured left foot and is now expected to be out for two months.
The Japanese international arrived at the Madrid based club this summer after spending time with Kashima Antlers and enjoying a six month loan spell with Tenerife.
The 25-year-old became the first player from Japan to score against both Barca and Real Madrid but injury forced him off against the former last month.
Shibasaki has now had successful surgery to fix the hairline fracture and he is expected to be available in December.
The midfielder, who has 14 caps for Japan, signed a four-year contract with newly promoted Getafe in July.
Getafe have started the season in mixed form, having lost three to Sevilla, Barcelona and most recently Deportivo.
Wins against Leganes and a surprise 4-0 thumping of Villarreal has seen them sit 12th in the La Liga table on eight points – sandwiched in between Celta Vigo and Athletic Bilbao.
Following the international break, they will host Real Madrid at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez; who are looking to get themselves back to form, having slipped to sixth in the standings and a massive seven points off league leaders and bitter rivals Barcelona.
