Reports in Spanish press claim Dani Carvajal will miss two months of action due to a heart condition.
News filtered out of the Bernabeu last week that the Spanish international had been diagnosed with a viral infection that was affecting his heart, therefore seeing him ruled out of action – indefinitely.
Achraf Hakimi was handed his first team debut by Zinedine Zidane in the 2-0 win over Espanyol, whilst the club waited on further reports and diagnosis from doctors.
El Mundo have reported that the defender will miss two months of action, whilst Marca believe it is still unconfirmed.
A short statement on Saturday afternoon from the reigning La Liga and European champions read: “Following tests carried out on Dani Carvajal, he has been diagnosed with a viral pericardium infection.
“His recovery will continue to be assessed.”
Carvajal, who has established himself as a first choice defender at the club, signed a new contract last month, committing him to the club until 2022.
Meanwhile, fellow full-back Marcelo is being investigated for tax evasion of £350,000, according to various reports in Spanish press.
Spanish tax authorities have begun looking into the Brazilian’s salary and tax payments, claiming he has failed to pay £350,000 worth of image rights.
The report comes after several other high profile footballers in La Liga were investigated, featuring Barcelona forward Lionel Messi and team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo.
