Real Sociedad face struggling Alaves

Real Sociedad travel to the Mendizorrorta to face struggling Alaves for their first Basque derby of the season.

It has been a mixed bag for La Real so far, having started their campaign with their best start in nearly three decades, they have won one of their last four league games.

Despite their recent struggles, they will surely be favorites to beat this Alaves side. The club sacked their manager after failing to win any of their opening matches, scoring just once.

The club’s fortunes have turned slightly, winning their first league game against Levante and scoring three goals in their last two.

There are a few notable absentees for the visitors, Aggirretxe and Zurutuza are both out with long term injuries while Adan Januzaj and Ingio Martinez are doubts for the game. The hosts, meanwhile, have no key absences.

History favours the Alaves, who have won eight of their last 10 home fixtures against Real Sociedad including a 1-0 against them last season. This fixture also promises goals with at least goal in each of the last 18 league games between these two sides.

Games involving Real Sociedad seem to promise goals, the Basques have the second highest goal scoring record and the joint worst defensive record, scoring and also conceding 17 goals.
