Espanyol and Levante both come into the Friday night fixture on the back of 2-0 defeats last time out, with the home side having lost to Real Madrid whilst the Valencian side were beaten by Alaves.
Now, the Catalan club will welcome some players back from injury, including Oscar Duarte, whilst Levante have been dealt a blow with Ivan Lopez picking up a knee ligament injury in training on Wednesday.
Discussing the tie, Quique Sanchez Flores stated that he believes that victory is key to showing his team’s ambition, and insisted that they would treat Levante the same as Real Madrid last time out.
“All games are important. We want to win every game possible and will have to play well because the difference isn’t huge. We respect Levante and the way they play”, he said.
“La Liga is more competitive than ever. Last season we beat teams below us and lost to teams above us. This season we have lost to those we beat and got points against sides we lost to.”
The visitors know that the RCDE Stadium will not be a place to visit. Boss Juan Ramon Lopez Muniz said that his side must bounce back, demanding “seriousness, work and order.”
“We have to reduce unforced errors and from there we will build confidence. When we dominate, we have to do well and be fearless. We need to get back to the way we played at the Bernabeu or against Villarreal or Valencia.”
