Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti has called for Ousmane Dembele to consider a switch to the Camp Nou from Borussia Dortmund, offering his guidance and support.
Dembele, who has been impressing this season with the Bundesliga side and has caught the eye of various European sides, including Barca, who are set to bring a number of new faces after losing their grip on the La Liga title to Real Madrid this season.
The young French international recently revealed that he turned down Barcelona last summer for Dortmund, but a move to the Catalan capital may be on the cards this summer.
Reports are continuing to grow and his compatriot Umtiti has added his thoughts on the speculation.
‘I know that Barcelona are interested in him,’ Umtiti told L’Equipe via Goal.
‘But all parties involved will have to reach an agreement. He would bring a lot to Barcelona with the quality he possesses and with the things he is capable of. I would welcome him with open arms.
‘But I have not been discussing it with him. I will talk to him about it if and when it becomes official.
‘Barcelona already wanted him last year and he knows what to expect. We will have to wait and see what happens.
‘He is always welcome at my place, I will happily look after him.’
Dembele may be tempted after watching Umtiti have a superb season in Barca colours, quickly forcing former boss Luis Enrique to play him instead of Javier Mascherano, who usually partners Gerard Pique at the heart of the defence.
Both French internationals were in action for France last Friday as they beat Paraguay 5-0 in what proved to be a good warm up game before their World Cup qualifier with Sweden this Friday.
