Ruben Semedo’s injury fears confirmedOctober 18, 2017
Ruben Semedo was due to return from injury on Sunday for his teams victory over Girona. However, he has picked up a further injury as confirmed by media outlet El Mundo Deportivo.
The summer signing for Villarreal from Portuguese side Sporting Clube de Portugal is believed to have damaged his right rectum which could potentially be quite serious.
No time of recovery has been announced as of yet so the situation will be monitored closely. So far, Semedo has not managed to make a single appearance for El Submarino Amarillo since Javi Calleja has taken charge and has only managed three starts in total so far this season.
He was previously out with a bout of dizziness and only recently returned to training before injuring himself in the last training session before the Girona match.
The current setback leaves Villarreal with 3 fit first team central defenders in Alvaro, Victor Ruiz and the experienced Daniele Bonera.
Villarreals injury issues are somewhat improving though with Denis Cheryshev making a return at the weekend and Adrian Marin returning to training. Bruno Soriano is expected back in training within the next week.
However, they are still without long-term absentees, both goalkeepers Sergio Asenjo and Andres Fernandez.
