After ‘game of the season’ on Sunday night, Real Betis not only lost three points. They have since learned of the news that left back Riza Durmisi has suffered a hamstring injury. The Danish defender will be expected to miss up to three weeks of action after the injury.
Real Betis’ official statement on their website read as follows as they confirmed Durmisi had “a grade-I muscle tear in the hamstring of his right leg”. It is believed the injury was sustained during Valencia’s 6-3 win against Los Verdiblancos over the weekend.
Having started seven of the opening eight La Liga games for the Andalusian side, 23 year old Durmisi will be a big loss. His presence and pace going forward has been a great asset to Betis so far. Culminating in beating Real Madrid 2-1 in the Bernabeu.
Having arrived from Brondby, in his native Denmark just over a year ago, Durmisi’s performances have gathered much attention. The left back was linked with Liverpool during the summer as well as a host of other clubs within Europe.
In his place, Alin Tosca would normally be the first called upon. Unfortunately for Quique Setien, the Romanian is also out with an injury.
This opens the possibility of right back Rafa Navarro playing on the opposite side. Alternatively, Setien could play with three centre backs and operate with two wing backs in the form of Joel Campbell and Cristian Tello. The latter seems an unlikely approach however.
