Valencia boss Marcelino was in fine spirits after his side smashed Sevilla 4-0 at the weekend.
Very few people had imagined Valencia would of sat behind league leaders Barcelona after two months of La Liga action but Marcelino’s side have now made it five consecutive wins after beating Sevilla.
Simone Zaza was amongst the goals once more, whilst Santi Mina and Goncalo Guedes (2) also got on the score sheet for the home side.
Sevilla were thrashed in mid-week by Spartak Moscow, conceding five and they conceded four as they were completely outclassed by Los Che.
Guedes, who scored last weekend against Real Betis, followed up that strike with a superb effort, sending his rocketing effort past Sergio Rico on the 43rd minute.
Zaza would then make it 2-0 six minutes after the break as he notched his eighth league goal of the season.
Santi Mina would the grab a third, before Guedes would secure his brace and Valencia’s fourth of the game in stoppage time.
The result sees Marcelino’s side sit four points behind Barca, who beat Malaga 2-0 on Saturday evening.
And, the former Villarreal coach has discussed his side’s heroics, saying: “We are attractive again. I thank the footballers who have achieved this. We are lucky to see this group of players play together. We are united and we continue to work together.
“The fans can be euphoric, because they see a team that looks attractive and we thank them for their support. We must not get carried away though.”
Valencia now have 21 points from their opening eight games and have scored an impressive 20 goals in their last five games, all of which have been victories.
