Barcelona have reignited discussions over the potential signing of Schalke youngster Leon Goretzka, according to Mundo Deportivo.

German club Schalke were worried over the summer after initial reports led Barca to be interested in the German international and those links have seemingly reignited after Francesc Aguilar reported that discussions had took place between club officials on a potential move.

The 22-year-old has continued his excellent form from last season into this one, scoring four goals in his opening ten competitive games and it is that form which has captured the eye of the Catalan club.

A meeting which included Robert Fernandez, Urbano Ortega and international consultant Ariedo Braida opened the talks and it is now thought that club scouts will pay close attention to the midfielder’s upcoming games in the Bundesliga.

Goretzka’s agent, Jorg Neubauer has personally spoken to Barca, and has told them that his clients contract which runs out next summer will not be renewed if Barca come in with a firm offer in January.

Meanwhile, Kicker, via Get German Football claim he is still unsure of his future, having been linked to a  verbal agreement with Bayern Munich.
